Enjoy one of the most diverse horseback riding experiences in South Iceland. Our farm near Hvolsvöllur is located along the South Coast — about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Reykjavík — making it an ideal starting point for this scenic adventure toward the Írá river and Írafoss waterfall. Here we’ll take a short break and capture unforgettable photos of you and your Icelandic horse against the dramatic backdrop.

From there, we continue east past small farms and climb onto a sandbank with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. The ride then leads us along the dramatic shoreline of Lake Holtsós, where mountain scenery and coastal riding blend into one breathtaking trail. On clear days, we may even glimpse the Westman Islands offshore and catch sight of the mighty Skógafoss waterfall in the distance, along with the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull.
