Discover the best of Icelandic adventure with this exciting combo tour that combines horseback riding and an ATV ride, all just a short drive from Reykjavík.
Start your experience by meeting our friendly horses and guides at the stables located about 20 minutes from Reykjavik city center. Ride along excellent riding paths through beautiful lava fields and green hillsides while getting to know the unique Icelandic horse. Our specially trained guides make the tour enjoyable for both beginners and experienced riders. When possible we organize the groups according to riding ability so everyone can enjoy the ride at a comfortable pace. The slower group rides mostly at a walk while the faster group moves at a quicker pace (trot and tölt). After the ride relax at the stables with complimentary coffee, tea, or hot chocolate and learn more about the Icelandic horse from our staff.
Your adventure then continues with an exciting ATV ride through rugged trails and scenic paths around Lake Hafravatn. Drive across varied terrain as you head up to Reykjavík Peak where breathtaking views await. From the top you can enjoy wide views over the surrounding landscapes including mountains, lava fields, and the coastline. This ATV experience is suitable for beginners and offers a fun and memorable way to explore Icelandic nature.
This combo tour is perfect for travelers who want to experience Iceland from two different perspectives in one day. Ride through peaceful countryside on horseback and then enjoy the thrill of driving an ATV to one of the best viewpoints near Reykjavík. Join us for a memorable day full of nature, adventure, and unforgettable views just outside Reykjavik.
A valid driving license is required to operate the ATV and each vehicle has two seats.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ATV part: SINGLE & SHARED RIDER*
* Please note that this does not apply to the horseback riding part. There each rider rides its own horse (1rider per horse).
We reccomend that you bring warm gloves and a thin hat that can fit under the riding helmet. Included in the price is that you can borrow a helmet, winter overall or rainwear, as well as rubber boots.
Maximum weight for a rider is 110kg/242lb.
Riding clothes. Riding gear (riding trousers, jackets, etc.) needs to be washed (40°C) or dry cleaned. Items which can not be washed or dry cleaned (riding boots, riding hats) need to be cleaned and disinfected at least five days prior to arriving in Iceland. The Icelandic Veterinary Authority recommends the broad-spectrum disinfectant Virkon S for disinfection. Used riding gloves, whips, saddles, bridles, chaps and other used leather gear may not be brought into the country.
Kindly note that these precautions are necessary because there are no contagious animal diseases in Iceland. Horses are not vaccinated and are therefore susceptible to infectious agents from abroad. Please help us to protect Iceland’s fragile nature! For further information please take a look at: Import of riding equipment | Matvælastofnun
