Discover the beauty of the Icelandic countryside on this very pleasant 2-hour horseback riding tour. Starting from our family farm near Hvolsvöllur in South Iceland — about a 1 hour and 45 minute drive from Reykjavík — we ride north towards the mountains, crossing wide open fields and following the peaceful river Írá until we reach the stunning Írafoss waterfall. Here we’ll pause to take unforgettable photos of you and your Icelandic horse against the dramatic backdrop of cliffs and cascading water.

On the way back, the route takes us past sheep and cow farms, giving you a glimpse of authentic rural life in South Iceland. With breathtaking views of glaciers, mountains, and black sand beaches stretching toward the horizon, this ride offers a perfect balance of nature, culture, and adventure.

This tour is ideal for beginners and families who want a slightly longer ride than the River Tour, while still enjoying a relaxed pace and the magic of Icelandic horses.

The minimum age for our trail rides is 6 years. For our youngest riders, we happily offer pony rides here at the farm.
