Into the Far East

Our 10-day riding tour with free-range herd takes us on a varied route directly from our farm Geirastaðir into the fascinating mountain world of the Icelandic East Fjords, this time heading northwest to Vopnafjörður.

On old post roads along the glacier river Jökulsá, many hours back on the other side of the river in a brisk tölt, beach ride with plenty of time for photos on the black lava beach, over the mountain pass Hellisheiði with a wonderful view, visit to the Gljúfurárfoss waterfall, through numerous small rivers to the Bustarfell torf house museum, on horseback along the Þverágil gorge with colorful mountain formations, many hours over the lonely Smjörvatnsheiði plateau back to Fossvellir and finally back to Geirastaðir.
