Riding and relaxing with the horses

 

This relaxed tour is ideal for beginners. We connect strongly to nature as we calmly ride, for appr. 50 minutes, through beautiful lava fields, surrounded by mountains and pristine nature.

 

The horses and the weather are of course key to the experience and to ensure riders’ comfort.  We provide you with warm overalls and rain gear during the ride. The horses are comfortable as nature provides them with warm, fluffy winter coats and we equip them with studded winter shoes which make them surefooted even when the riding paths are covered with ice and snow.

 

Nach dem Ausritt kehren wir in unser gemütliches Pferdezentrum zurück, wo ihr eine kostenlose, frisch gebackene Waffel mit Toppings eurer Wahl sowie heiße Schokolade, Kaffee oder Tee genießen könnt.

 

You are welcome to take your time and relax and we will be happy to answer your questions about the Icelandic horse as we never get tired of talking about horses. You can browse our selection of horse-related souvenirs in our store or visit our stables and horse paddocks where you can pet and say goodbye to your horse of the day.

Reiterliches Können No riding experience is required for this tour. As the pace is relaxed it is suitable for beginners. It is therefore ideal for families and groups of friends.

    • Die Altersgrenze für die Teilnahme an dieser Tour liegt bei 7 Jahren. Kinder ab 14 Jahren benötigen eine schriftliche Erlaubnis der Eltern, um alleine zu reiten.
    • Kinder bekommen 25% Rabatt auf den Tourpreis
    • Bitte beachtet, das das maximale Gewicht 110 kg (240 lbs) betraegt.
    • Jeder Reiter muss selbst einschätzen, ob er körperlich in der Lage ist, an der Tour teilzunehmen, einschließlich des selbstständigen Auf- und Absteigens vom Pferd.
    • Wenn ihr mit eurem eigenen Auto anreist, seid bitte 30 Minuten vor der Tour bei unserem Stall.
    • Wenn ihr lieber schneller reitet, dann empfehlen wir unsere LAVA TOUR or other options.
    • Die Tour dauert eine Stunde

    • Reithelme, Gummistiefel und Regenkleidung/warme Kleidung während der Reittour.
    • Ausgebildete Guides, die mehrere Sprachen sprechen
    • Waffel und Belag nach Wahl an der Waffelbar und ein Heißgetränk.

    Bitte beachte, dass es nicht erlaubt ist, mit Rucksäcken oder Taschen zu reiten, aber Íshestar stellt kostenlose Schließfächer für Wertsachen in den Ställen zur Verfügung.

    WAS MUSS ICH FÜR DIE TOUR MITBRINGEN?

    Wir empfehlen, warme Handschuhe und eine dünne Mütze, die unter den Reithelm passt, mitzubringen. Im Preis inbegriffen ist, dass Du einen Helm, einen warmen Overall oder Regenmantel und eine Regenhose sowie Gummistiefel ausleihen kannst.

    WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM WEIGHT ON A RIDER?

    Maximum weight for a rider is 110kg/242lb.

    CAN I WEAR MY OWN RIDING CLOTHES?

    Riding clothes. Riding gear (riding trousers, jackets, etc.) needs to be washed (40°C) or dry cleaned. Items which can not be washed or dry cleaned (riding boots, riding hats) need to be cleaned and disinfected at least five days prior to arriving in Iceland. The Icelandic Veterinary Authority recommends the broad-spectrum disinfectant Virkon S for disinfection. Used riding gloves, whips, saddles, bridles, chaps and other used leather gear may not be brought into the country.

    Please understand that these precautions are necessary because there are no contagious animal diseases in Iceland. Horses are not vaccinated and are therefore susceptible to infectious agents from abroad. Please help us to protect Iceland’s fragile nature!     We recommend booking a couple of days in advance just to make sure that we have free spaces on the day you wish to arrive.
