What to do in Reykjavik?
What to do in Reykjavik? People are often surprised that such a small city like Reykjavik is, offers so many activities. Even though there are many activities inside the city there are even more activities outside the city but within a driving distance and perfect to make a day out of. Íshestar´s Horse Center is only 15 minutes from Reykjavik and offers riding tours on daily bases that vary from 30 minutes to 5-hour tours. Our most popular tour is Lava tour a riding tour both for beginners to experienced riders.
For guests who would like to combine two tours, we do offer two combo tours: Horses and Whales and The Black Lava tour. On horses and whales, we first go riding on our Lava tour for approx. 1 1/2 hour and then whale watching with one of the oldest whale watching company in Iceland Elding. Elding offers many other tours like Sea angling, Puffin watching and Northern Lights tours by boat. Eldings Whale Watching Tour is one of their most popular ones. After the riding tour is done you will be driven by our Ishestar bus to the Old Harbor in Reykjavik where the boat lies. On board, Elding has several outdoor viewings and an indoor saloon with windows perfect for watching these magnificent creatures of the ocean. On top of the boat is a guide who helps the guests to spot the whales and tell you about the whales and rich birdlife. If the unlikely thing will happen that you don´t see any whales on this tour you will be able to go on another departure with Elding for free.
The other Combo tour Íshestar offers is The Black Lava tour. The tour starts with an adventurous riding tour in the Lava fields surrounding Mt. Helgafell volcano and ends with a guided tour with Arctic Adventures in the famous Leiðarendi cave where you will have to climb, crawl and walk 900 meters while witnessing incredible lava formations.
